RICKY GERVAIS' FLANIMALS MAKE THEIR TV DEBUT ON ITV1 ITV today announced that it will be bringing to life Ricky Gervais' best selling books Flanimals, the ugly but intriguing creatures who have delighted adults and children alike with their often absurd humour. Paul Jackson, Director of Entertainment and Comedy at ITV has commissioned 6 x 30' episodes of this extraordinary series, conceived, narrated and written by Ricky Gervais. The Office is the BBC's biggest comedy export of all time and with Flanimals a best-seller on both sides of the Atlantic, this could give Gervais another Worldwide hit. The third book in the series Flanimals Of The Deep is released on October 5th. The creatures who go by such names as Clunge Ambler, Grundit, Puddloflaj and Munty Flumple, will be stunningly animated by combining traditional claymation techniques with cutting edge computer- modelled effects. Producer Chris Gepp has brought together animation legends Charles Mills and Terry Brain, who pioneered the clay animation that Britain is famous for, to direct the series. Caramel Uncut is producing Flanimals in Bristol - animation's capital city. Evolutionary biologists, precocious children, or fans of Extras and The Office, will find equal pleasure in Ricky's unique brand of humour which will illuminate the bizarre and hilarious characters who live in a world far, far away.
